MESSAGE FROM THE LORD MAYOR OF MELBOURNE
Holi Hai, Melbourne!
Welcome to our most colourful festival.
We Melburnians are known for preferring dark clothing. While that’s certainly an element of our cool image, Holi is a wonderful chance to let go and paint one another in the brightest of colours.
The myriad colours sprinkled during Holi hold particular meanings. Green for nature, blue for calm, red for love, or yellow for sunshine and joy. And on these two happy days and nights, Melbourne abounds with all these qualities. Holi is a fantastic celebration, not only for our Indian and southeast Asian communities, but for all Melburnians who love delicious food, singing and dancing.
The City of Melbourne supports festivals like Holi because we are inclusive. A community of people from more than 200 backgrounds practising 120 faiths in the world’s most successful multicultural city.
Now, let’s splash Melbourne with colour!
